The Feldenkrais Method ®

The Feldenkrais Method® is the gentle manipulation of the skeleton in order to bring about a state of ease. Through an enjoyable and stimulating process a greater awareness of yourself in movement is obtained. This can culminate in reducing unnecessary effort and help you function in daily life with a greater sense of ease, flexibility and well- being. When the human nervous system is engaged to organize us in unified action and self-expression, we go beyond the mere mechanics of joints and muscles. The results are often surprising and quite delightful. This is true whether the task at hand is the rehabilitation of basic functions, the improvement of highly developed skills, or more complex improvements in the quality of our relationship to ourselves and the world.

Whether as therapist, teacher, performing artist, athlete - or simply as a human being - the Feldenkrais Method ® offers people a simple and yet a sophisticated and profound means for discovering resilience, strength, and self-possession.

Andrew will be teaching a ‘Feldenkrais and the art of performance’ workshop in Belfast at the Old Museum Arts Centre 6th & 7th March 08.
